Dat School Field Trip

I Dig It hosted our first field trip with the lovely students from Dat School!

Dylan came along for the STEAM packed event and a good time was had by all! Aligned with the principles of self directed learning, children were given a tour of the garden, a lesson on plant life cycles and seed saving, and given options to experiment in the garden.

The children separated seeds from pods and were given the tools to paint and plant lettuce and broccoli grown to seed at the garden.

There is something so calming about painting in the garden. The children painted recycled tin cans and and planters to grow their own seeds and enjoyed the thoroughly enjoyed the art activity.

At the conclusion of the lesson we “left no trace” and packed up the art to have a time for reflection and discussion. Thanks, Dat School for a lovely visit!
