Your weekly update on all things compost related
Thanks to everyone who came out this week for St. Roch Sunday!

This week we filled two bins to the rim! Next week I may need to add a third bin based off the response we received today! Thanks to Compost NOW for an Instagram shout out, I got emails confirming we were open and a flood of new contributors!
Our second bin is filling up and the timing is working out great! We’ve been using the compost that was cured and we plan to spread the into our beds in preparation for planting our fall harvests. This will leave an empty bin ready to continue collecting and diverting food waste from our landfills.

In other updates we are getting excited about October! The National Community Gardens Association is holding their annual conference in New Orleans and the Galvez Garden is going to be featured for participants to tour. We’re looking forward to sharing our hard work, and very humbled by the opportunity to get feedback from new guests.

Also, we’re diving into vermiculture and I’m excited to welcome some red wigglers into our adventures in composting- stay tuned!

Lots of great things going on and despite the heat, we’re still enjoying getting our hands dirty in the Big Easy working in the garden. Thanks to all who came out to support our composting efforts!
